Assistance to Professional Bodies & Seminars/Symposia

The Programme extends partial support on a selective basis, for organizing seminar / symposia/ training programmes / workshops / conferences at national as well as international level. The support is provided to Research Institutes/ Universities/Medical and Engineering Colleges and other Academic Institutes/ Professional Bodies who organize such events for the scientific community to keep them abreast of the latest developments in their specific areas. The support is generally given for encouraging participation of young scientists and research workers in such events and publication of proceedings / abstracts for wider dissemination. The Programme also supports S&T Professional bodies.

Q1: What is the nature of support?

A1: Financial support is provided only for the publication of journal. This support is not available for any other activities of the professional body.

Q2: Is the support available to meet the entire cost of publishing?

A2: No, only partial support is provided.

Q3: When I can apply to get support in Professional Bodies Scheme?

A3: The journal should have been published for at least three years continually to qualify for support under the scheme.

Q4: What documents should be submitted with the application to get support in Professional Bodies Scheme?

A4: 1. A copy of the journal should be submitted along with the application.

Financial Assistance for Seminar/Symposia

Q1: Who can apply for Seminar/Symposia scheme?

A1: Any academic institutions, research laboratories, professional bodies and other non-profit organizations engaged in promoting scientific research, are eligible for financial support under the scheme.

Q2: When the proposal/application can be submitted?

A2: Application should reach the secretariat not earlier than six months and not later than three months, before the date of the event.

Q3: DWhat documents should be submitted with the application?

A3: The following documents/enclosures are required with the application duly counter-signed by Head of the Institution (in case of the Central/State Institutions, Laboratories, Universities & Colleges) OR President/Secretary (in case of the registered Societies).

  1. Announcement Brochure,
  2. Technical Program with session vise details and name of session chair/co-chair,
  3. List of Keynote Speakers,
  4. Brief Statement of Objective of the Event highlighting its importance in Global and National Context (One Page Executive Summery to be annexed separately).

A4: The support is provided under the:

  • TA/DA for Young Scientists (Indian)
  • TA/DA for Senior Scientists (Indian)
  • Pre Conference Printing (Announcements, abstracts etc.)

Q5: Can I get full support to organize the event?

A5: No, only partial support is provided. Organizations should indicate the means of remaining support.

Q6: Can I pay TA/DA for International experts/participants?

A6: No, the support is only meant for the Indian scientists.

Q7: Can I get the remittance in favor of convener’s/conferences’ account name?

A7: No, the money can only be released in favor of Head of the Institution (in case of the Central/State Institutions, Laboratories, Universities & Colleges) OR President/Secretary (in case of the registered Societies) name.

Q8: Can I get the support for organizing the event outside India?

A8: No, the support is available for organizing the event within the country.

Q9: Can the event be organized under collaboration of any other institutes/organization?

A9: Yes, the event can be organized jointly with any other institute(s)/organization(s).
